What Energy Bill Lab Does
Energy Bill Lab is a public-first home-energy utility website for U.S. residents. We publish transparent home-energy calculators, state electricity-rate benchmarks, and source-led explanations designed to help U.S. households understand electricity usage and costs.
All core public calculators remain freely accessible without requiring user login, account registration, or personal identity submission.

How Calculators & Data Are Built
Calculators are built using pure TypeScript formulas with explicit units, decimal-safe arithmetic, and deterministic rounding rules.
Rate benchmarks are sourced directly from official U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) Form EIA-861M monthly retail sales reports, stored in a PostgreSQL database snapshot.
Editorial Independence & Disclaimers
Energy Bill Lab is an independent educational site. We are not a utility company, energy supplier, government agency, licensed financial adviser, or substitute for an individual utility statement.
Calculations represent informational estimates rather than binding utility bill predictions.
Corrections & Transparency
We welcome source corrections, accessibility reports, and technical feedback. Factual correction requests are evaluated against official public data sources including the U.S. EIA, U.S. DOE, and ENERGY STAR.
